Deadwood at Laredo
Deadwood was a hit American western television series set in the 1870s. The series charts Deadwood's growth from camp to town, incorporating themes ranging from the formation of communities to western capitalism. The show features a large ensemble cast, and many historical figures appear as characters on the show—such as Seth Bullock, Al Swearengen, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Charlie Utter, Jack McCall, and George Hearst. The plot lines involving these characters include historical truths as well as substantial fictional elements. Actual diaries and newspapers from the 1870s were used as reference for the characters and events, as well as the look and feel of the town during this time. Some of the characters were fully fictional, although they may have been based on actual persons.
During 2011 Laredo members decided to create a themed Deadwood weekend turning their town into this frontier community, and portraying most of the main correctors from the show. As you will see we all had a great time, and Laredo looked exceptional tuned into a Wild West settlement for the weekend.
